New Plan

It's been almost two months since my last post, which I am constantly reminded of by Anna and Mary. So I've made the decision to become a team member/author for Mary's blog www.themarysilvablog.blogspot.com I'm really excited and I think it's a great idea. I will still keep this blog up but it will mainly consist of updates occuring in my life, nothing too interesting... maybe some pics, poems, stories etc. The MSB (mary silva blog) will mostly be covering entertainment topics, news topics... things that will gain a much larger following. We are in the process of recruiting a new writer/member Natalie "Nat" Hall. I will keep you all informed!

Student, Intern, Athlete

Well, another year of college is coming around. My last one, thankfully. It feels like my summer is already over though. I've been working hard on this internship which I feel like I should be getting paid for. I've been following one of the publishing companie's rep's around, which is a big step up from what they had me doing before (making copies and delivering messages).

Alyson's a pretty nice lady but she's very demanding. She has to have things done perfectly. So anyways, we've been working mainly with local businesses and a few college newspaper staff's. Nothing major yet, but still a lot of work. And a lot of travel. We go to cities all over the Stanislaus County to meet with people and talk them through the process of publishing - things as simple as editing, PDF-ing, proofing, etc. It's taught me a lot but it's been a little stressful. Especially because I've already started training for the cross country season. All summer I've sort of lagged on my exercize and I'm starting to notice the effects. The first day of conditioning, I was the slowest guy in the group and we only ran a 5k. It's getting easier and the soreness has worn off, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to juggle the season, my school work, and my internship. Somethin has to go. I have some time to think about it though since I'm heading home to Kansas for a few days. Leave tomorrow morning and I'll be back by Tuesday. I've been in a slump for a while so this break came at a perfect time. Can't wait to see mommy!

Day In San Francisco

To be honest, I'm very tired from a long day of roaming the streets of San Francisco... not to mention the fact that I did it with a small hangover. All went well though of course. I've added some photos which should pretty much sum up my day.

And of course I went to...

Gotta respect San Francisco's gay pride. I think this is why I fit in so much here :)

This wasn't my first time in San Francisco, but everytime I go it's always a very different experience. I went with my good friends Anna and Max. We made it our mission to find the strangest people we could and make friends with them.

We met some Power Rangers, a man who asked us if we wanted to wear his banana. Like, he literally wanted us to wear his banana suit. I told my mom and she sarcastically said, "Really? In San Francisco?" then asked me if I ended up doing it... I didn't. Maybe had I had a few more to drink. I ended up being the designated driver on the way back. Which I didn't mind doing after Anna nearly killed us on the way up. Waiting 'til the last second to exit freeway, cutting people off, and not using the blinker to switch lanes does not make a good driver, dear! So anyways, it was a pretty swell day. Now I'm back to facing the realities of life. Again, thanks to those of you who have been sending emails. Really appreciate the advice.
XOXO Michael David

What I Do When I'm Home Alone

I know what you're thinking... and you're right! I do sit on the couch with Sally, my dog. And we do watch old episodes of Glee and Sex and the City. My roommates are out of town for the weekend so I created a list of things to do while they're gone.
  1. Clean the living room (because it's a pitt)

  2. Finish watching season 1 of Glee

  3. Finish reading Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang

Having both my roommates gone at the same time rarely happens, but when it does I use my time wisely. Don't get me wrong, my roommates are great friends, but three guys sharing one place just isn't right. I'm the neat freak of the three and if I want things well-kept I have to do it myself. If I didn't invite people over on a daily basis, I imagine I would let it all go. We have one TV in the house and we can never agree on one specific chanel. Joseph and Matt share one room and have my own room, which makes sence because I pay the most rent. Despite having their own rooms to dirty, their clothes, socks and underwear still manage to cover the living room floor. So this weekend things will be nice and tidy, and who knows, maybe I'll bring around my flavor of the month. So I'm half way done with my list. After cleaning the house I dove right into Sex and the City. Sally and I have the rest of today and all of tomorrow to enjoy the privacy.

Seven-Eleven Slushies

So, if you don't know me I'm the kind of guy who likes to get drunk and party. I do this regardless of what day of the week it is. But tonight, my 2 roommates and I chose to stay away from the booze and stayed home instead. It didn't take long for us to realize why we almost never stay home. For one thing, unless we're drunk, we can't stand to be around each other for more than an hour at a time. This, added to the fact that our crappy apartment has no air conditioning (it works we just can't afford to turn it on), equals three very grumpy boys. So it was around 9 p.m. when my roommate decided he wanted he wanted a 7/11 slushie to cool him down. For whatever reason, he needed to have one. I imagine he might have been a little high. So since we live down the street, we chose to save gas money and walk. Looking back on this now, walking anywhere after dark in our bad neighborhood was probably a bad idea. I have this theory about my roommate, Joseph, that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong when you hang out with him. The handle on the slushie machine got stuck while he was filling his cup and it kept pouring all over the floor. The cashier, rather than help us fix the machine, continues to stare at us like crazies. We eventually fix the machine and the 7/11 worker comes over and looks at the mess as if he can't understand how it happened. We apologize to this douchebag who then charges us for two more slushies, saying its equivelant to what fell on the floor. Just for that I'm glad it happened, now clean it up bitch! So by the time we get home the slushie has melted into, basically Koolaid which we could've made ourselves. We finish the slushies and everything is fine until an hour later when we find ourselves fighting to use the restroom... They really ought to clean their machines. All this for a rotten slushie. I should've gotten drunk.

When Guys Don't Call You Back...

Something that annoys me more than anything is when a guy doesn't call you back. I recently went to a club where I met this guy whose name I wont mention (it was Steven Ramirez). He was pretty good looking, plus I was drunk, so I allowed him to take me to his place. Sleeping with guys I barely meet is awkward for me because I'm usually drunk when I meet them and once the liquor wears off my interest in them wears off as well. So anyways, the next morning I came up with this lame excuse to leave (had to feed my dog), then went about my day. At the time I wasn't really interested in him. I gave him my phone number hoping he wouldn't call or text, but expected him to do so regardless. The next day I got nothing from him. I mean it's not like you're too busy to pick up the phone, you have one job and it's at CVS pharmacy! You're not even a pharmacist you just work the register. Even if he did text or call, I would've ignored him, but the fact that he didn't really annoys me. It should just be common etiquette.

Happy day after July 4th!

Just hoping everyone had a great fourth of July! Mine was ok. Went to my cousins house and watched the little ones light some fireworks. Then after spending time with the family, I went out and had some real fun. Went to my best friend Anna's house. Thought it would be a great idea to face my fear of heights and climbed with some of my friends to the roof of her two story appartment complex. I was up there, terrified, for an entire 20 minutes before nervously climbing back down. The rest of the night was spent drinking.
